I am awaiting an HIV test I had done about 3 weeks ago. They called yesterday and left a message for me to call them, and I called twice today and each time they put me on hold and tell me that no nurse is available to speak with me at that time, and that they'll call me back. They never called back.

I had unprotected sex a few years ago with a man I know was a needle user, and I also had other times where I did not use a condom..but the needle user is the one I worry about.

I am not proud of my actions, and have changed my ways, but I worry that it is about to come back to haunt me.

Why do you think that the nurse hasn't returned my call? I worry she's afraid to tell me that I have it!

I wouldn't worry... first of all, they are probably just calling to tell you your results are in. They do not give any results (positive or negative) to HIV tests over the phone. They probably just wanted to tell you to come in for your results. If the nurse was calling you then perhaps something went wrong with the test and they need to retake it. Blood samples get lost all of the time.
I am sure that they did not call you back because they were busy. Nurses only have so much time in their days and they have to divide it between people that are in the office and follow up calls... sometimes they just can't get back to you. Don't worry yourself until you know you have something to worry about.

i like to say that "no news is good news" , but with regards to this kind of situation i think that the nurses or whoever is in charge of the results of your test is very inconsiderate of you and i just hope it not a normal practice of this people because they are causing a lot of unnecessary stress and to extreme life because sometimes time is the essence in knowing the results asap in some medical testing.... report this people to proper people who are in-charge of such businesses because they deserved some sort of castigating and fine if necessary. i hope everything is a-okay with your test, good luck!

In this day and age, there are so many people who are getting tested. Let's hope that she was helping someone else and couldn't get back to you. Good luck w/ your results

nurses are busy but you should have received a call
HOWEVER since you are dealing with the subject of HIV
they may have tried to call but left no message to protect privacy
