Is this a question? Are you asking whether people agree or disagree with it?

OK, I'll take it.

The Old Testament Joseph said it very well, when reconciling with his brothers after they had sold him into slavery: "What you meant for evil, God used for good." Pardon the paraphrase.

An "act of God," as defined by insurance policies, is always something destructive. Did God send the hurricane, flood, tornado, or whatever? I don't think so, directly. God designed nature to work the way it does, and nature does its work. Kind of like Frankenstein's monster, I suppose. People say it's "God's will" that a two year old fell from an upper story window and died. That makes God sound like some kind of twisted sadistic freak, doesn't it? Well, I don't think God pushed the poor baby out the window, but He did make gravity, and gravity combined with that kind of force does terrible things to small bodies. So was it God's direct, perfect, and ordained will? NO. I believe He cries with us when horrible things happen.

End of sermon.

I've always heard that if asked why something horrific happened it is still attributed to God but just said that "God works in mysterious ways". They have an illogical answer to everything.

Insurance companies call things like tornadoes, hurricanes, and fires started by lightning "acts of God".

If something goes wrong God may not have done it, but being all powerful, he certainly allowed it.

both have been attributed to God or gods throughout history but neither have been more than mans over zealous attemps to explain what he had not the knowledge to understand in natural
ways.
