What if the diamond obstructs the view of the band?

nope most are designed to wear together however I wear mine together.the marriage ring is to be on the left hand closest to the heart. engagement ring folows that one.

the band goes next to the hand and the engagement ring on the outside of that, many are made to lock into each other, the diamond is the thing to see, the other ring is representative of everlasting love, haha

I'd say that's a personal issue - if they are not a set that was made to fit together, I see no reason why you can't wear the engagement ring on the other hand. I used to, til my eldest was playing with it one day, bit it and permanently bent it all to hell. (I like thin bands)

No, you wear them both on the same hand. Wedding band is worn closest to palm because it's closer to your heart.
