' Enlightenment' is the attainment of that perception and understanding which reveals the higher purpose of life.
To know that the world is in a state of flux ( constant change ) is one thing but to perceive it is another.
To say that the world is a "Maya" is one thing but to witness the "Maya" is another.
To believe that "Christ" is god is ordinary knowledge but to realise the same is another.
Only one in a million "May" attain enlightenment.
They are individuals who keep away from the society, talk less, prefer to live on alms, do not stay in a place for long and difficult to come across. Though among the Buddhist few have started travelling all over the globe. But definitely they don't drum their visits where ever they go

Enlightment is a state when one get in touch with supreme power (say GOD or whatsoever). When one reach this state, he feels totally satisfied and has no more queries / doubts about anything.

Many would consider "Enlightenment" to be on a universal-type stratosphere, basically meaning that enlightenment should be the same for everyone once attained. I think enlightenment is a subjective thing, regardless how one reaches it. Enlightenment is possibly a peace of mind acquired by personal reflection.

My definition of enlightenment is attaining a new level of awareness, either spiritually, emotionally or intellectually.

Well you reach it by being free from desire. I guess it's just a truth you realize about the universe once your head is no longer clouded by superficial things or any other desire.

this is my own definition about enlightenment...
1.realise that pain is due to affection towards ones kith and kin.
2.realise that pain is due to 'wants' in mind.
3.move far away form every worldly substances mentally.
that's all......
