A man gave me a kiss and great hug to say goodbye and he patted me on the back? Don't you usually reserve that pat thing for your mothers, grandmothers etc? I would like to know what the "pat" means to you?..Thanks! : )

It is a non-threatening touch, and conveys no inappropriate intimacy. In conjunction with a kiss and a great hug, it sounds like he may have felt awkward and it was a safe thing to do with his hands.

I does that to ladies that I didn't wish to be romantically involved with. It is just naturally done when I didn't want to hug her tightly in my embrace.
