I think you should try a light brown hair color. Hazel and Caramel sound great, you can also try Plum or Burgundy, but look at the color panel on the hair color box first, to see what it might turn out like, coz it's different results for different original hair color.
Alos, buy a reputable color brand, like with L'Oreal you can't go wrong, or Garnier too. Try something not permanent, because its your first time, and you're just experimenting. Once you get an idea of what looks good or what could look good, you can try permanent (later).
Blond is a little extreme (I think), but if you wish to try a blond brown, it will look great and you will look gorgeous. Again, stick to the long lasting, and not the permanent.
GoodLuck!

Don't ever copy anyone people are different the blonde suggestion was not a good one...I reccommend if you can go to a professional you trust because you don't want to screw up ur hair and fry it... if u don't have the $$ to do it and u must do it yourself I suggest u do a subtle change like a light hazel brown use feria that does a good job of lightening dark hair. and remember ur not going to look like the box. use dark blonde or lt. brown. if you go to a professional get subtle honey highlights. good luck!

Go to a professional first. Look at other women's hair and when you see one you like ask her who does her hair. I would go with highlites, but not blonde. highlite with a color, look at a color book and go a/b 2 to 3 shades down from your natural. If you go more than that you will probably get more of a red tone since your hair is so dark. Start out at a minimum, you can always do more. But corrective color is difficult & costly!!

Don't go blond, it looks ridiculous on folks that are darker complected. You might want to try a warm honey color or caramel. Or highlights in those colors. Or you can go with a burgundy/maroon color. It would look so pretty in the sun.

insteaed of drastic just put in some highlights at first. then gradually like every 8 to 10 wks you can add more to ease your way into the change. the brush in kind of kits at wal-mart ; etc. are good because your see where the color is going to be as soon as u apply it.
