Lost of things are cheaper in India for example. Are the maintenance costs there also cheaper? Are the regulation regarding aircraft maintenance any less cumbersome?

Yes, there may be lower maintenance costs, etc. in other countries, however you may end up paying for it in the sale of the plane since it's value be substantially lower in a country which does not have equivilent FAA or JAA standards for maintenance. If you do decide to go to another country, I would strongly recommend using a manufacturer approved service center (which may defeat the purpose of lowering your costs to begin with.)

Good luck with the new plane.
