Boys at this age like to play with army men, action figures and playing video games. You can play Lego's with them and create "forts" for their action figure "guys". Or you can have them make a fort with dining room chairs and blankets and give them flashlight. Just make sure they know that they have to completely clean up or they will not be able to do that again. They will think you are creative and fun!!

Don't make them watch or movie or tv - boring! You're getting paid to be interesting!
Video games are great! Board games, go sledding or make a snowman. Build something [do they have cars? - build a track in the kitchen, take a picture for the parents and then clean it up before they get home!!]
Does your family have a video camera? Make a movie!
Family birthdays coming up? - make a card with them!
Parents are busy now, so this is their chance to do things that their parents don't always have time to do...
They will like to do "stuff" - its a given. Your job is to prevent fighting and destruction of the house [heheeh] - have fun!!!!!! 6 and 8 are an awesome age!

Ask them. If you have nice weather right now go outside. If you don't, drag out some board games. My kids love the babysitter because it means they get to play all the games that mom is tired of and hates. (Life and UNO) But these kids are old enough to let you know what is fun for them, and will be pleased that you asked their input since so much of life at this age is doing what you're told, without an opinion. Good luck and have fun

Ask them what they like. Have them help you make a list of what they like to do and don't like to do. Then you can reward them with an activity fromm the list when they behave well.
Also, if they aren't total video zombies and still have active imaginations i highly recommend builing forts. Couch cushions, blankets etc... hours of fun. Also, bug caardboard boxes are a surprising source of fun. Then can cuut out windows and doors and colour all over the boxes too.
Board games are good, if they are able to sit through them. That age likes games like sorry and Uno. If you have a deck of cards, you're all set. They can play Go fish, or perhaps teach you their favorite games. And, if all else fails, build a house of cards out of them!

Several things depending on the freedom the parents give you. You could take them to a park or a children's museum. I used to teach elementary school and my students would love to sing and dance. Turn on the radio or get a cd or make something up. Grab a tote bag and take over paper, crayons, glue sticks, safety scissors, paper plates and different things for random art projects. Take them to a library or you go on your own and check out a kids cookbook and do a cooking project. Google teacher websites and see what ideas are there.

Play. When they're that old, don't make them watch tv or something. Go outside and play sports or just make up a game in the driveway. Or you can make forts in the house and have a nerf gun battle, those were always fun. Or you can get a huge old cardboard box and play with that. Have one get in the box with stuffed animals and have the other one knock him over. That is great
