In most parrot species, both parents take an active role in feeding and caring for the babies.

If you already have eggs, I suggest doing some good research NOW! If you don't have eggs, you need to do a lot of research before you let your birds mate.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT BOTH THE MALE AND FEMALE TAKE CARE OF THE BABIES . THEY TEACH THEM DIFFERENT THINGS . SOME TIMES IF YOU REMOVE EITHER ONE OF THE PARENTS THE OTHER WILL ABANDON THE BABIES. AND YOU WOULD HAVE TO HAND FEED THEM OR THEY WILL NOT MAKE IT.

No he doesn't need to be there, but I would suggest he stays so the mom doesn't get so tired.
