this girl i work with came up to me today and told me that she had a chat with the guy i like in the lunch room and she asked him about us and told him that she was hearing we were already dating etc and she asked if i was his gf and if we were together and he said not yet. she talked a bit more with him and asked if he was going to get things going here soon and he said we'll see what happens..as i just got out of a 5 yr relationship. is this good news for me??

It's good news. Just don't read to much into it. Also, I would take stock of the relationship that just ended. Think about what went well and what didn't. Take the lessons learned with you, but not the baggage. Otherwise you won't be ready for a relationship with anyone. Good luck.

On the other hand, don't be too surprised if the guy asks your g/f for a date.
After 5 years, maybe you need a break, so don't be offended if he does date your friend, maybe you can compare notes.
