The W2 must show amounts taken out of your wages for social security. The employer also matches this amount.

If you are concerned that your employer may not be paying social security taxes, get your statement from the Social Security Administration annually and check that your wages have been recorded there. If there is a discrepancy contact the SSA right away and they will handle it. If you do not automatically receive a statement you can request one at www.ssa.gov
