In a separate container or palette space, start with a bigger glob of the lighter color. dip your paintbrush into the darker color and mix it up with the lighter color. keep adding dark to light in small amounts until you have the desired color.

Well it depends if you are using oils or acrylics. with acrylics you want to mix the base color on the pallete and then you would add more colors on top to add the dimensionality. Now the best thing is with oils you can easily just use the paintbrush to blend on the canvas. if you don't get what you want right away. just remember paint is fogiving and if you don't get it at first you can keep adding on top or in the case of oils use tupenoid to wipe it back off. have fun.

Start with blue : make the dark parts of the skin (shadows) in more or less dark blue, with respect to the values. Then, start with the brighter parts, don't hesitate to make contrasts.
When finished and your picture is dry, you can always perform one or more glazes to alter some spot's atmosphere, or the whole picture's.
You can contact me if you don't know how to make a glaze.
Good luck!

P.S. NEVER buy a "skin colour" tube, it is awful.
Skin colour should be made of (crimson) red with white, i.e. pink, plus yellow ochre and a little bit of brown depending on the subject's complexion.

Experiment first on a separate mixing apparatus. Use 2 drops of light color first, than add 1 drop of darker shade. continue until you have the perfect shade.
