I have a 7 week old puppy, and she cries almost all the time.I put her in the bathroom at night, and she just whines and cries all night long. Is this normal? How long will it last?

I don't want her peeing or pooping around the house, so I put her in the bathroom at night.

I tried letting her sleep in a cage next to my bed, and she cried very loudly, woke my kids up. I'm not trying to be cruel.

Yes it's very normal, my dog is a puppy and sleeps in a cage every night, and he is now used to it and we can all speel soundly. It will take I wile getting used to. You might want to put you pup in the bathroom when she is very tired, and you wake up to a cry in the midle of the nigh let your dog out of the cage take her out for about a half hour if she goes to the bathroom give her a treat ( this will help train your pup, and you much have treat with you at all times) and let your pup wonder for an hour or so and put her back in the bathroom. I would put the toilet seat down, and putting a pup in a bathroom isn't a very swell idea, you should buy a cage...You shouldn't have a pup all by her self in a bathroom. And if you happen to buy that cage but a little food and water in there just incase she gets hugry. And yes 7 weeks is to young to be away from a mother. You much care for this pup properly.

7 weeks is too young to be away from her mother. Ethical breeders do not allow puppies to leave their mother until they are 8 weeks old....why? It's a crutical learning period for the dog where they continue to learn boundaries from their mother, independence, toileting and bite inhabition.

How would you feel if you were ripped away from the only thing you had known since you were born and put in a bathroom.

Get a Crate or a box and put it in your bedroom....dogs are pack animals and pack animals sleep together. Your puppy is used to the feeling of warmth and heart beat from its' mother and litter maters.

Get a hot water bottle (not too hot) and wrap it in a soft towel and put that in with your puppy.

Many people sleep with their arm over the bed so the puppy knows they're there for the first couple of nights.

yes this is perfectly normal and is still really a baby and needs the comfort off of her mum and if her mum can't give her comfort you have to.It's probably best for you to let her sleep in your room(or somewhere she can see you from) and she won't be as scared try not get into the habit of letting her on the bed just let her sleep beside the bed.
If you don't want her peeing or pooing on the floor get a cage and put it beside your bed where she can see you and this makes them feel more comfortable and secure and should stop her crying.

7 weeks old is really still too young for the puppy to be away from it's mother. She needs you! Bring her into your bedroom and put her near your bed so you can soothe her.

Edit: If you don't want her peeing or pooping in the house then you need to crate train her. Put her crate by your bed at night until she is older.

There are a few real keys to dog training, whether you are trying to train your dog to come when called, sit, stop barking or any other behavior. Understanding their importance is critical to achieving rapid results that are long lasting and help develop the bond between you and your dog. Learn more http://OnlineDogTraining.enle.info/?3R52

The first is simple; you must win your dogs mind. If you don’t achieve this first then you will be struggling the all the way. When I talk about winning your dogs mind what I really mean is that your dog looks to you for all the decisions. Before you do anything else watch one of the amazing video sites that show you the 5 Golden rules to establishing yourself as the pack leader. If you aren’t putting these in place then you are setting yourself up to fail. Just at the crucial point where you really want your dog to listen they will go and do their own thing. For sure your dog may play ball occasionally or even most of the time, you may even have a dog that is obedient 99% of the time, however if you want a dog who always listens to you and does as you ask then you need to win your dogs mind.

The second key to success is to motivate your dog. It is really important that you discover what it is that your dog enjoys both in terms of exercise and play but also in terms of a reward. If you can make the experience enjoyable then you will both achieve more and look forward to training.

Some dogs love to fetch, others love agility, and other dogs simply love obedience training, or swimming out into water and retrieve. At least to start with find out what your dogs love is and help them develop this, what I am saying is work with your dog. The other point to recognize is to make training enjoyable reward your dog.

A natural way for dogs to communicate is to bark at things they find or see, usually which are interesting or a threat to them. If you have a dog that barks too much, then you want to find a way to calm down the instinct by offering the best dog training. While you want to make sure your dog can express themselves sometimes by barking, you also want to focus on not letting the noise become a burden. Following are some of the dog training tips that help your dog to stop barking while establishing basic obedience rules for the home.

Start young. If you have an older dog that hasn't been trained to stop barking, it is difficult to stop. You want to make sure that you train puppies not to bark if they are doing it too much. The younger you start training them, the easier it will be for them to understand the dog training commands.

Understand what barking is for. Barks from a dog are used for several reasons. You want to make sure you understand why they bark and whether this can be prevented. Some common reasons for barking are from the dog being bored or lonely. If there are distractions that the dog feels are a threat, they may also bark. You can prevent dogs from barking by giving them extra attention or by getting another pet.

Reward them when they stop. Just like other types of obedience training, you can easily stop your dog from barking by showing them when to be quiet. This is known as one of the best dog training methods. Dog training commands and words such as saying quiet, with a voice that has a low tone, will easily stop your dog from barking. Once they do stop, you can reward them by telling them good in a higher tone and by giving them a treat. However, you need to do this instantly after they stop so they understand what the reward is for.

Anti bark collars. If your dog instinctively keeps barking at everything, then you can get a collar for extra training. When the dog barks, a stimulus or scent is set off which causes slight discomfort for the dog. If you aren't around and your dog starts barking, it will immediately stop them.

Know when to train. You want to make sure you don't leave your dog in a position where they can't express themselves. Even if you have neighbors who don't like the dog barking, there are certain times where they should be able to speak. Knowing when to apply commands and training and when to let them bark helps them to feel comfortable while allowing you to apply limitations.
The ability to offer the best dog training is one that is reliant on consistency and understanding your dog. If you have a pet that naturally wants to bark, then finding a way to monitor the behavior is the best step to take. Following these dog training tips can help you to establish better behavior with your dog while allowing them to express themselves at the right time.

What on earth are you doing with such a young puppy and leaving her in the bathroom all night?
When I brought my puppy home at 8 weeks, I'd read where it said, to let them cry for 1 minute, go in to them - fuss them, love them and walk out. Let them cry for 5 minutes, go in, love them, fuss them etc - then let them cry for 20 before going into them. I felt horrible leaving her, but it worked! (This process can be done for 30 mins, 45 mins, 60 mins etc)
I also left the television on for her, as she used to watch it as a tiny pup. She liked the company, and still does!
