No it's not a bad medication. It sounds like your Mother in law suffers from chronic depression. Go to Webmd.com and you can find information about the medication.

Since Zoloft is an antidepressant, it can affect every person who takes it differently. To some, it makes them sleepy. Others it makes them dizzy and still to others, it has bad side effects in the sex department (lowers the sex drive) and yet to some still, it has no side effects at all. If your mother-in-law has been taking it for 10 years, then she must be one of the lucky ones! But, I would still have the dosage checked every 5 years or so, to make sure it is working and doing the right thing it is supposed to be helping. Best of luck to her and to you, also.

Depends.
Basically it's an assured Death to Children, Tweens, and Teens because it damages their organs and glands. :/ It's just they won't drop dead right there,.. no,.. they get to be in alot of pain that isn't diagnoised properly and leads them down the road of a long painful death.
Sounds like you have an adult. [Maybe I'm just hopeing she is an adult XD] There are alot of Side Effects with Zoloft,.. given how long they are takeing it,.. the Side Effects may be accepted as reality (not as side effects) or as part of their illness (instead of being spotted out as side effects). It can cause problems that you could get from extremely high [Blood Sugar] diabeties or binge drinking like a fish and then the doctors don't recognize it as the source :/
Why bother her now. It's for things like Depression and some times sleep problems (not that it's supposed to be).

i take Zoloft for depression
the side effect that bothers me the most is the sexual side effects
it lowers your sex drive allot
my doc is going to change mine to something else because of that
if she has taken it for ten years with no problems..i guess it is OK
