My boyfriend is planning a special romantic new years eve weekend; however I am on my period, which really sucks!! How do people really feel about having intercourse while menstruating?

It never bothered me in the slightest. If you are worried about mess, do it in the shower.

BTW, orgasm relieves cramps!

Oh i dont know if its appropriate actually answering this or not, but hell we're all adults here. Well, you can actually take a birth control pill the day of and u will stop your menstrual cycle. Its not a myth, its true. It works. However, if you want 2 consider it without trying this, depends on how heavy your flow is and how he feels about it. Its not the worst thing in the world and if the 2 of you are close enough there should be nothing wrong with simply telling him & leaving the decision up 2 him.....

It's all in what you and your man like and if he's not ok with it then just let him know that your sorry and see if he would be willing to cuddle and hey I'd rather cuddle then have sex when I'm on the rag. Or still be able to get him off then go get in a warm bath and please myself. And yes it can be very messy but that comes with being a female and having that time of the month. My Chrismas last year was like that. So I'd say it's up to you and good luck.
Best of wishes to you. And a very Happy New Year.

Okay, I'm a guy and have never menstruated, however my experience has been that this is not a problem--just messier. Honestly, I don't care about the extra mess, and I'm not turned off by it; it's natural... I've always been more concerned that it's uncomfortable for the woman but have been reassured that it is not. If you don't care and he doesn't care, then go for it.

I am ok with it.

But if you want to make it a non issue, get a natural sponge makeup applicator and some KY jelly, before the act, excuse yourself to the bathroom, and place that in you high up against the cervix. That will stop the flow long enough for the act to take place.

It isn't good for you, so don't do that often.

I LOVE it...but then I'm female...my husband...doesn't like it...
You can get or if you have one, a diaphram (or cervical cap) that will keep the blood from making a mess...if the mess doesn't bother him (make sure you put towels on the bed, no sense in making a big mess) have a lot of sex...it's great for cramps and you can have the orgasm's of your life on your period....(just remember to take the diaphram (cervical cap) OUT. (letting blood sit up inside can give you an infection...and other nasty things...)

Coming from medical experience, either have sex or don't....any foreign object to restrict the natural flow can lead to infection...and potentially sterilize you....unless you dont care about having children in the future. However, some foreign objects are okay at times, just dont mess with the "flow"

Its not the bad and a lot of people do it. I was reading somewhere that a lot of men like it better because its warm and wetter. Just ask your boyfriend and besides, you guys can have a romantic weekend with out having sex. Maybe you could just please him in OTHER ways. ^_~

It has never, ever, ever bothered me. The only restriction we have is based on her comfort; some months she just doesn't feel well enough for a couple of days, so I rub her back and make sympathetic noises. We've been married long enough that I know she'll make it up to me. :-)

sorry about that...my sister had a worst encouter.
she had her period on her honeymoon. (sucks, right???)
anyway...try not having sex, it not a good thing that something will penetrate the vagina, while the excess blood/ un-used egg cells exit the body.(menstral cycle)
and plus don't you think it's messy???
just makeout all night long or something like that.
it's better safe than sorry...maybe your female area might get irritated, bec. it becomes extra sensitive when your menstrating.

Bummer. I won't do it the first two days but after that it's not TOO bad. Some guys are totally grossed out about it so tell him early. If he isn't grossed out then try it in the shower.
