How much info do you have on your brother? Do you know his DOB, city of birth, mother's name? If you know some of this- you can start your search at the city's (or county"s) hall of records. All births have to registered and that info is public domain--in other words you can ask to see the records. I hope this helps--I'm a nurse and worked in Labor and Delivery for nearly 20 yrs. Let me know if I can help you find him. I lost one of my brothers 10 yrs ago due to a blood clot so I guess that's why your question struck a cord with me--Good Hunting and God Bless.

I found my 1/2 sister through a private detective.

I tried to find her on my own for years...sending letters out, searching online, even writing talk shows and going quite bonkers. There is so much red tape out there protecting everyone's privacy that unless both parties are searching it is a hard and long process. The hospital records had been destroyed, the courts refused any information. One night I got an anonymous phone call from a man that must have come across one of the many letters I sent out. He told me to stop searching on my own and talk to a private investigator before I screwed things up. See all that poking around can "alert" agencies and people that have the information you need and have them keep a tighter arm around that valuable information.

2 days after contacting a private detective she called and had my sister's name, address, copy of driver's license (w/picture), phone number, date of birth (I only had a month and year to work with) and about everything else. I was amazed. Yes, it will cost a little for a detective but the headache it saves you and the peace of mind you will receive in the end, no matter what the outcome, is in my opinion wellll worth it.

Good Luck!

Ask any relatives you know when he was born and where. Then start with the hospital if it still exists. Try to find out his exact birth date because that will narrow things down a lot and then you can check birth records at the courthouse.

If he was adopted through and agency or an attorney you can try to find out through them. My cousin put a child up for adoption years ago and the girl looked for her when she was grown and had her own child - my cousin had put a letter in the file of the agency saying the child could contact her but the girl did not contact her for years.
