Looking for cool items that you could not live with out! Like the peeople who mentioned the Hgtv thing, or the bows......Never thought of bows for her hair!

We were in dire need of a nipple washer for the dishwasher, so we wouldn't have to boil every nipple. For the car seat, you may need an adjuster for the head, especially for the first few weeks with a tiny baby. I'd also suggest making an apppointment with your local safety council to get a free car seat checkup. They'd install it for you and you'd know it's done safely and correctly, especially since it's been a while since your last install.

Also, get at least 1 blue outfit. If your baby girl only has blue eyes for the few weeks before they turn, you'll still get to see how beautiful they are when brought out by a blue outfit. The little head bands are too cute as well!

Since you live in the city, you'd also be wise to invest in a carrier, so you could use it as well as the traditional stroller for quick trips, without the hassle of setting it up, etc.

There's a baby bath with a shower attachment also, that will definitely help when she gets a little older. There's also a travel bath for vacations that worked wonders for us.

One item I know of that I did WITHOUT was baby powder. My doctor recommended that I not use it, as the powder gets inhaled into the baby's lungs. I found that I never really had a need for it, nor the baby lotion either. She was already soft and smooth and other than the smell, it really was unnessasary. A diaper genie was a total waste of $ as well. The longer it sits in it, no matter how much it's rapped, just makes it stink even more. If you get one, bring it back and get diapers, which you'll actually use.

Congrats and best of luck!

I am below the poverty line but I still made sure that I set up a post secondary education fund(RESP) and I also started a life insurance policy through Gerber, not pushing that company to anyone, it is just the one I chose. I wouldn't suggest getting the jogging strollers as they are made for offroading and not city streets, unless you are jogging the trails with your family. One thing I wish I had of gotten when I had my son was a diaper genie. We are trying to conceive so one way or another I am getting one with the next baby shower. Cute light weight dresses for summer. My son gets a coin set each year at Christmas, that is a nice idea if anyone in the family is interested, the US puts out yearly uncirculated and proof sets as does Canada. Pretty pictures for the walls. Cute little shoes to go with the many little dresses I am sure you will be buying. If you have the money, the sky's the limit. You could start a trust fund or a savings account that you put money into every month or how ever often you choose.

Hi, I have a 6 week old little girl sitting right in my lap right now........and I know shopping is so exciting and you want to buy everything, don't do it! I have sooooo much useless stuff that I have never even used. Like I never used the bathtub, the wipe warmer, the bouncer, a co-sleeper (she hated it), a bottle warmer, etc. The things that I use that I find useful are...... The thick burp cloths (not the little cute ones with prints), Infants Tylenol, a mini swing (sits low to the ground), my Graco Pack N' Play, a sponge like pad for the bath, lots of blankets, bubs, something that plays music, and lots more but I really can't think...hope this helps!!

Congratulations! Basically you would buy the same things as you did for your little boy, only shop for girl clothes and buy stuff in pink, purple, and yellow. When my daughter was born, she had just a tuft of hair on her head. You will think I am crazy, but I bought the little infant hairbows and the way I kept it in place was by placing a dab of toothpaste on her head and this held the bow in place. It did not hurt her, just buy a toothpaste for children. She was so cute with the bow sticking on top of the almost bald head. If you still have the bassinet or baby bed that you purchased for your little boy, you really don't have to buy one that is for a girl. You can now buy frilly coverlets to go on the bassinet and coverlets, decals for a little girl. Once again, congrats and I hope you have an easy delivery and that she will be healthy.

Socks. More socks than you ever thought you'd ever need. When we move I swear there have to be a million lost behind the dryer because otherwise I have no clue where they went to. I agree with the bows. My daughter doesn't have enough hair even at 18 months to wear any and even decked out in all pink outfits we constantly get "Awww! What a cute little boy! He looks just like his daddy!" well she does look just like her daddy but it's still a little disconcerting to have to tell everyone everywhere that you have a girl child thank you...that's why she's wearing a dress.

A jumpeero is nice for a few months older than newborn, a bouncer if you want one , but mom works best for entertainment. Lots of small toys and teethers. Dont buy a lot of newborn clothes they outgrow them way to fast. Cloth diapers make good burp cloths and spit up rags. The toy links are good, and I like the soothie pacifer, but i use the nuby no drip bottle for self feeding, and the playtex drop in for formula. other than that bath toys, nursey decorations just depends on what kind of money you have and want to waste.

You don't need bottles!-( Use that money for a pedicure or pregnancy massage or something!

A boppy, for support while nursing.
A nice rocking chair.
A Mei Tai, or sling carrier.
Some really cute custom cloth diapers.
A visit from a lactation consultant.
Get a copy of Dr. Sears' "The Baby Book". Its invaluable!!!!

I have 4 sons so I wouldn't even know where to begin!! lol! First off, I'd probably get the cute pink stroller. I'd have to also get tons of adorable frilly outfits. another thing I miss out on is hair accessories, hats, BLACK PATENT MARY JANES! Also, nowadays, you can get alot of the bigger items like pack-n-plays, carseats, high chairs, and swings that all coordinate...some of them have the cutest fabric patterns for baby girls. You also HAVE to get a Petunia Picklebottom Diaper bag. They are so girly and CUTE! Congratulations on your baby girl! I'm a total boy mom and love it but sometimes I like to live vicariously through girl moms!! =)

I saw an item on new tech gadgets on the HGTV channel. It was battery operated devices that go under the crib legs and it simulates a car ride in the crib.

Thermometer, Nail clippers, nose suction things, baby Tylenol, and Baby Mylanta or Myla(something) to relieve gas bubbles. Everything is pretty much obvious. Bibs, Diapers, since its a spring baby, pretty spring colored dresses, bows, headbands, clip on ribbons.
