Call your cable company and they can send a technician to check your cable line and wiring.

Your new location may have much dirtier power than your old location. You might try calling your local electric company and seeing if they can check it out for you (for free). Or, they may already know of a problem that existed (and they fixed) and be willing to fix your equipment if you file a claim.

If not, you're probably out of luck. Since you seem to have some really bad power now, you should consider a good UPS (uninterruptible power supply) instead of just a surge suppressor. The UPS will take care of surges and also voltage dips, bad AC waveforms, and other possible power problems. They also allow you to shut down smoothly in a power failure. They cost more than just a surge suppressor, but they cost a lot less than either a new computer or TV.

Unfortunately, moving 4- and 5-year old electronics could have caused problems, too, if they weren't properly shock isolated from the truck vibrations. The utility may try to stick you because of this, so don't be surprised if they bring it up.

APC makes good stuff; there are other brands that also do well in power protection.
