Cognitive therapy is your answer. Is it systematic? Very. Is it easy? Heck, no. Reprogramming your thoughts is hard work, and it doesn't happen overnight. I've been at it for a year myself and still catch myself with a head full of negative thoughts at times. The good news is that these incidents have become less and less frequent as I've gone through the therapy. It may not work for everyone, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't give it a shot. Here's some more info for you.
Best of luck.

Please elaborate. To questioner I'm going to assume that you've read some of the popular books on the subject.Maybe you could let us know which one(s) so we can suggest?Maybe you tried too hard sometimes this can cause a backfire and you get the oppositeBasically to change old patterns it helps to introduce new patterns .Maybe a lot of things need to change in your life.Start by trying things you've always wanted to do.Vacation.Career? Love?Location? Learning new things ,new hobbies can help.Try to replace rather than just trying to cut out negative thought.Have some fun!!!

Just as a river is not water but a flow of water, the mind is not just a pool of thoughts, it is a constant flow of thought. The Bhagavat Geeta states:
Your mind is your best friend and it is your deadliest enemy. The mind which is under your mastery, managed and trained very well, is your best friend and the mind which controls you, is your deadliest enemy.
Take every thing as Lord's prasad- as his gift. Do your duty; do whatever work is required of you; do it all as an offering to him. Then whatever comes, whatever life gives you, be satisfied and accept as his will; welcome it as His gift. Once that acceptance is developed there will be no anger, no frustration, no depression, no dejection or laziness. The moment there islazines or depression. admonish your mind, get yourself into some activity, do something you enjoy. The best thing is to serve others for this leads to a great sense of achievement and fulfilment.

First - I want you to know that it is possible to re-program your thinking patterns. One very simple way is to do AFFIRMATIONS. Write positive things about yourself and your life on a post-it note and place them around your home. The best way is to put the note on a mirror and look yourself in the eye and read the note out loud to yourself. I know it may sound goofy, but it works!!! Below are a few sites where you can see examples of affirmations.
Good luck on your journey!

Find something around your house that you absolutely love. Like a picture or something that makes you happy or smile when you look at it.....then when you get to feeling sad or stressed or depressed pull out the picture or whatever you have and laugh then youll learn to laugh and feel positive even when you are stressed
