I couldn't agree more. I'm in my 50s and from the South. My generation and the part of Texas I'm from values civility, hospitality and manners A LOT. The only way I have found to handle it is with humor. My boss never says good morning when I say it to him, so I simply say "And good morning to you Sarah". I think he's coming around. When people don't say "excuse me", I blow it off. If it really bothers me, I will say something (not confrontational) such as, "When people act as you do, I'm always curious about their upbringing." You keep your civility. We need it...

When ignorant people are inconsiderate,
We use to say, they're slowly sliding down a slippery slope.
Well, they're not moving so slowly now days, are they??
It's very hard to not be angry...
My car broke down on a busy road...I asked the first car that came by if they could make change so I could make a call.
They said "Get your drug money some where else."
It was 6 hours before anyone else stopped. He fixed my car and I was glad to give him $50 bucks an a big Thank You.
I just needed a hand, not a hand out,
but who's listening anymore now days.............

No i'm out. the only united states I even have anymore is the floor in a three foot circle around me. If I make a psychological checklist of clarification why I hate this united states and clarification why i like this united states the justifications to hate it a techniques out selection the justifications to like it. Why might I supply my comprehensive help or die for a united states the place toddler molesters and rapists are dealt with with toddler gloves? Why might I die for a united states the place issues like the "Up your alley" pageant in San Francisco ensue? What a humiliation this united states has replace into. i'm no longer able to arise with the money for to bypass away so i will merely declare the floor around me a sovereign united states and be completed with it.

I have to say I agree. People aren't very civil anymore. The only way to strengthen and bring civility back is to raise the next generations to be civil. You can teach an old dog new tricks but if the pup knows then the next generation of pups will know.

Many people have adopted the "me first, last and only" attitude and have totally forgotten their manners. Some may not have even been taught the basic social skills by their parents.
Don't sink to their level. Maintain your high standards. If more people would do this rather than letting the 'thugs' get away with their rudeness they would have to learn to conform to our way of acting!

You know...isn't it interesting- You can get 99 people out of 100 to say civility is dead. Then when each of them leaves the house they're going to scream at someone when they get cut off on the road. And they'll do it coming out of the church parking lot first :-) LOL

Well, I can't see it improving that's for sure.
People are too self absorbed these days to care about anyone else.
