No matter what you want to remove the shine, or sheen. No matter what you put on it.....this will make it stick better.
XIM is a primer that will allow you to paint almost any surface, even glass.
However, gripping the Handel repeatedly will cause just about anything to chip, or fade off.

I would use plastic DIP to coat it. Dip the Handel into the stuff, it will coat it and prob. last longer. Plastic sprays are popular. But, dip will suit you better for this. Home centers have it.
Comes in different colors.

( i own two paint companies)

Thanks so much for all the information. Some of it we knew about, but the shower door is a must try! I've tried all kinds of products on the shelf, vinegar, alcohol, etc. I am about to try Purple Power, baking soda and WD-40 (separately). We've tried for years to get the water residue from the shower door and the only thing that I find works is scraping my fingernails over it (not very efficient).

The only paints I can think of that can be easily used on plastic are those newfangled spray paints for garden furniture and model car and airplane paints... You can pick them up either at your local hardware store or any toy or hobby store for the model paints. Oh... you can use fake floral spray paint... but it will eventually rub off....you'll have to keep doing it.

Is there a way to remove your old handle and replace it with one of a color that you like??? hmmmmmmmmmmmm...
