hey you,
this is something i know a bit about, i got my belly pierced when i was 17...(6 years ago) and let me tell you something, i don't regret it one bit, i love and and now i feel so weird if i take it out, like a part of my body is missing. i got mine done in Amsterdam, and well first thing the piercer was hot, lols, so no problems there, most piercers numb ur belly button so it doesn't hurt at all, this guy didn't and even so, it only felt like a little prick kind of like an injection so it's totally worth it, it doesn't hurt afterwards at all, unless you really pull it of course and only a little bit if u bend down but that's only for the first three days. it's not bad at all. piercing ur ears huts more. i want to warn you that you have to take really good care of it, don't neglect the cleaning as it takes a long time to heal completely between 6-8 months so it's going to be a bit gooey for a while, this is normal it's one of the places that takes the longest to heal so don't freak out, just clean it.
a bar i think is best they look better and u have less of a chance to get it snagged on ur clothes, just get a very simple stud, no dangly bits or anything until it's completely healed ok cause you don't want to risk opening it again. and be sure that ur stud it the right size, you don't want it too big cause that's just uncomfortable and can get snagged, and too small will put pressure on the open hole and that's not good for the healing process. ur piercer will know the right size anyway.
good luck it's totally worth it!!!
oh and i have never heard anything about it coming out crooked or anything i mean it's a hole in the end so if ur piercer does it straight then it will be. as for those people who had a lot of pain when they had it done this is 99% because the piercer was an idiot and hit a meridian in their stomach. that happened to a friend of mine, so just make sure you get a piercer who knows what he's/she's doing.

I got my belly button pierced when I was 21. It didn't hurt when it happened, but then again I never think a piercing hurts during because it's so fast. It's afterwards, when you leave that's the hard part.
I had to lay down in the back seat of my car for about 3 hours. It was sore and I walked around like a pregnant lady for a while.
As for a ring or a bar...the person piercing it should know what's best. I got the ring.

It all really depends on your tolerance for pain. Some say its a 10 some says its a 1 it all depends on the person. Everyone is different. And you might want the O ring when you get it done. IT's easier to clean. Just make sure that the piercer puts the right size ring in there when they are done. Personally, I had the ring and the guy put the wrong size in so it took longer to heal. I bought the right size and it healed within a week. As for the 14 in FL, not too sure. you'd have to ask your piercer or have your mom ask. Every state is different.
Hope this helps and good luck!

I have had mine pierced 5 times, 3 on the top and 2 in the bottom. I honestly think that my ears and my cartilage hurt worse than my belly button. They put a clamp on it to hold the skin steady so they can get the needle straight, and the clamp makes you not think about it. You feel more pressure than you feel the needle. I have always used the curve barbell, yes they are a little harder to clean, but with the rings, they can get caught on things easier. But if you are unsure, ask the piercer, he will tell you what would be the best. Just make sure you clean it EVERYDAY because if it gets real infected it could cause a keyloid(a hard kot of scar tissue) that takes forever to go away. But it will be fine, you go through about 25 secs of pressure and it wont hurt anymore after that.

It is about a 5 or 6, it is not too bad...i did it twice. let the first one grow up and got it done again. the first time was with a ring and it never healed. I think it was becuase I sleep on my stomach and with a ring it kind of pushes into your belly button and hurts. the second time I got a bar and cleaned it constantly with alcohol (yeah, it hurts but makes it heal much faster) and it healed. the bar seemed easier to be easier to move around too cause it wasn't so curved.
Just remember to keep it clean so that it doesn't get infected cause if it does it can be bad and hurt a lot worse! Hope I helped

The minimum age for getting anything pierced is 18 every where. So when you get it done you need to bring a parent (mom) and your birth certificate. Yes it hurts a lil bit but it really depends on your level of pain you can endure. They clamp your belly button down and it kind of numbs it. They pierce it within a second and you feel a pinch and then its all over in a few mintues after they slide the ring in. I herd that a banana ring is best for healing. Just take care of it after you get it pierced to keep from infection.

well for me it hurt like an 7 and i had numbing gel, i did feel dizzy when i stood up. if the pierce shop offers you sodas ro juices take them! lol you will need them yoru body will need the sugars and such cause of the nutrients. and yes the place will only (shoiuld) let you picj out a barbell. the captive bead rings will stick out ahd get caught on even more clothing and such. and it does hav ea much higher risk of migration (healing crooked and not to your liking) make sure you pick out a barbell that you will liek for 3 montsh (you cannot change the jewelry in the first 3 months.)
liek i have said before. pain is not a decidign factor.... the sharp pain is only ther for a few seconds and the next few days it fels a bit tingly in a way and its akward to be bending over and twisting your waist (this is why navel piercings can take up to or over a year to fully heal)
you will need to wear looser shirts. baggier shirts so you wont get teh clothing stuck on the jewelry and to preven migration
barbells are just as easy to clean as the captive bead rings. you wwill have a larger barbell than what is appropriaye (to accomidate swelling)
but you can go back in about tow weeks and have it downsized (getting it fitted to the appropritae size barbell) onl yhave thm do it! they shoudl do it for cheaper since you got pierced there. and they will tell you all about the aftercare.
but any jewelry you put in has the risk of migration. but the captive bead ring (O rings as you call them) have a higher chance. once your piercing is fully healed you can keep a captive bead ring in there.
but the pain is only temporary! you tried this hard to get your mom to say yeas and asked dumbed questions liek piercing yourself with a thumbtack lol.. why let the pain hold you back now???
you also wont want to wear any dangle charms/jewelry wither till your piercing is fullyhealed. those get caught on alot fo things and will tear your piercing!
they will hae you pick ouit somethign mroe liek this for the healing process.

i have somethign similar to that eacept with a clear gem. the place should have many pieces to choose from.

I got my belly pierced when i was 15. I am the biggest scaredy cat in the world but i can honestly say that it didn't hurt at all.The only thing i can say is that it left me a scar its not that big of a scar but if i were to take my belly ring out you would be able to see it. By the way alot of my friends have it periced and they all have the bar. I don't know anyone who has the o.

All piercings hurt. The amount of pain differs from one person to another. You won't know how much it will hurt until it happens to you. I would suggest a ring. They are easier to clean and they heal better because of it. When it is healed you can put in a curved barbell. Don't do a straight barbell because it may grow out.

its not true about the o ring thing. i got peirced and got the o ring. I took mine out because i out grew it now 20 and i argued with my mom too get it. It hurts really bad i thought the needle was still going through when it wasn't and it was really sore for two weeks and if i barely touched it ,it would hurt. i didn't scream . i would say its a 7 on pain. but its over before you know. I would say think about it really hard if you want this forever and want the scar. are you gonna wear belly shirts.. if you say yes then the pain is nothing .
