I joined when I was 26 with a wife and 2 kids.
If I had it to do again and after 2 combat tours I would have joind the Air Force. They take longer to get promoted but they have nicer and easier lifestyles.
my recruiter told me straight up if you want a bonus go army and the promotion is quicker
if you want a good education join the navy
if you want a good lifestyle and not worried about rank join the air force
If you just want to get out and get the best combat training for 3rd world countries join the marines
There are alot of marines that have jumped to the army for the chance at better education because if you don't get into the air force on your initial enlistment then it is almost impossible to switch branches
I am speaking from experience
REMEMBER ABOVE ALL READ EVERY WORD OF YOU CONTRACT AND UNDERSTAND IT!!!
Hey I am glad I did it but I would have done it differently

usual my protection stress journey became a sturdy one. I served interior the army then the army Reserves. I enjoyed the army an excellent purchase extra helpful. I see the place you're coming from with the completed officers take care of junior enlisted like crap. I continuously concept that the officers that have been earlier enlisted have been continuously lots extra helpful. I additionally think of area of the difficulty which you have is which you're a woman. i spotted that girls interior the army and military have been continuously dealt with with much less recognize than the adult men. The previous sea canines interior the army continuously mentioned putting women folk on ships became the worst mistake the army ever made. I disagree with that assertion yet despite. usual inspite of the shown fact that i concept that each and every physique I worked with became very advantageous and for the main area not all that smug. Sorry which you had a bad journey.

I joined when I was 24. I had a daughter and a husband, but I still believe it was a good decision. The military is a good life for the most part. You'll find out if you join that you will be a part of a big family. They take care of their own and you will be doing all of us a huge service. You can retire after 20 years and you'll only be 45 then. I think it is a good choice. Best of luck!

in my opinion i think you should you do it. when you go to MEPS which is the Military Entrance Processing Station and you take your asvab which if you dont know what that is its a test of knowledge and do your physical, you will be given a list of jobs that you are qualified for make sure you read up on the job is that you like or the group of jobs that you like...NOT JUST WATCH A SHORT VIDEO BY THE WAY.... and one that you can do for however many years you sign up for and which branch you go into. I do not mean the books they gave you...you have the option to go home and think about the jobs because you don't want to wind up cleaning crappers your entire career. good luck and anymore questions just ask me. I am in the military now and I am in the Air Force and I love it

At 25 you are still a kid. Go for it. No wife, no kids. You are at a great time in your life. If you are in good physical condition and are willing to go through the roughest training you have ever gone through in your life. I say 'go for it!' You will not regret it. I was in the U.S. Army for 4 years and I loved it. Made me the person I am today.

Good Luck! Never give up on your dreams!

Our son was 23 when he went in. He feels his age made some things easier for him. Like in Boot Camp, some of the "kids" had a hard time understanding that Boot Camp is only temporary. There is a life after Boot Camp. And you may find that some of the younger ones will lean on you for guidance and support.

There was even a Recruit in his division who was 36 and in for the first time.

Go for it!!

Hey dude, go for it! It changed my life. I was your typical surfer, 1000 jobs under my belt, 3years of college, bored outta my mind. I guess I was pretty washed up. I joined the Army at 24 and now I'm in Special Forces. The Army allows many opportunities for advancement, you just have be goal oriented, and believe me I wasn't before I got in. Offer yourself the challenge and never quit!!

Go for it. I worked with tons of people that were older. Really, age only matters in PRT/PFT's. I was a 19 year old NCO and I didn't really get a lot of S*it for it. I was even put in charge of 35 year old E-3's. If anything, it will be easier.
