I wanted to save some money when I was going to the salon for highlights, so I tried dying my hair a nice brown base color for my highlights to sit on instead of having them dye it for a million dollars. Well needless to say, it turned out almost jet black when I was trying to get a nice dark brown color! I know that it will probably fade within a few shampoo washes, but I was actually considering dying it a lighter shade of brown. My hair is in terrific shape and I don't think it would hurt it too much to redye it, but I don't know if it will just stay black if I try to do it again. Should I wait to go to the salon or try redying it myself?

Well, you will have to strip it and then re-dye it. So if you are going to do that, at Wal-Mart, they have a kit that will remove haircolor for like $8. When it is done, you will have ORANGE HAIR. Then redye it. I would reccomend less time developing next time and to use a better/different brand also. A salon is going to charge you A LOT to DOUBLE PROCESS YOUR HAIR. I THINK REGIS CHARGES LIKE 60 DOLLARS IN THE MALL FOR IT.
I will warn you though, THIS IS HARMFUL TO YOUR HAIR THOUGH. DO IT ONCE AND IF STILL TOO DARK, JUST LET IT FADE.

Hang in there, don't panic! It's fun to experiment anyway!
I've done exactly that last week - it was supposed to be chestnut. But a friend rang me and I waited 15 minutes longer than I should have. So I looked too pale beside the black - so what? My hair is still glossy & soft. I used a fake tan mousse instead of my usual foundation.

It looks OK. My mother didn't notice - she was like "Oh, your fringe is shorter - it suits you." If the most critical person in my world thinks it's no disaster, then I would be really surprised if anyone comments on yours unless you ask them - they are probably going to be really complimentary after Xmas, and glad to meet anyone who is happy with how any new things turned out for them : )

It sounds like your hair is in great condition - I would live with it, it already looks healthy & you are OK with the way it feels. If you think it looks better, try the next shade up with your usual tinted moisturiser, but let it wash out, I'd say. If you buy some drastic other treatment you haven't tried, it may dry out your hair, and the weird thing is, people do notice the condition of your hair without seeing what they see.

Your hair - which is more than OK right now - looks great, they won't register any colour change. Honestly. I only heard because I brought it up - two relatives are colour-blind & don't talk about that!

My cousin - met her over Xmas - loves her new blonde look - it's like straw - so many relations have whispered "is she under a lot of stress in work? She looks so drained?" Yet she's fine, her skin is radiant, just back from a holiday, happy, been promoted - but her hair is so dry & flyaway you would imagine a wig ... unconsciously people see this. Close your eyes & run your hand through it - if that's how you feel about your hair, that's how others see you. And I'll bet that's positive!!!

redye it yourself, i've done that before. everyone always says not too dye your hair too much, but they come with those great conditioners -- my hair actually looks and feels healthier after i dye it! but go ahead and dye it a light brown or dark blonde. this will mix with the blackish to give you a really nice brown.

take care! happy 2007.

attempt a short lived dye first of all of the colour which you need, that way it washes out after 3-6 washes and you nonetheless get a good theory of regardless of if or no longer it incredibly is going to greater healthful you. in simple terms bear in concepts nonetheless that to pass back to blonde isn't that straightforward you will the two ought to post with undesirable roots till the colour fades out it extremely is definately no longer a good seem or you ought to get your hair stripped yet it extremely is very harsh on your hair and expenditures extremely lots. think of approximately it first and in the adventure that your nonetheless insistent which you incredibly choose for to pass dark then do. yet bear in concepts blondes have much greater relaxing!
