To begin, there is only one place you need to go. That is USAJobs. They are the official site of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), the agency responsible for the hiring of new federal employees. Here are the steps you need to go through.

1.Go to www.usajobs.opm.gov

2.At the top of the page you will see several tabs like the subject dividers in a notebook. Click on the tab labeled MyUSAJOBS.

3.Once you’ve done this you will see a button in the middle of the page called, “create your account now!” Click on that.

4.Once you’ve finished creating an account then go to the search page. For simplicity I’ve included the address: http://jobsearch.usajobs.opm.gov/index.asp

5.Under Keyword enter Border Patrol then hit the enter key and the first listing will be for an entry-level border patrol agent. The current vacancy announcement number is BPA 07-1.

If you have any questions you can go to the following site:
http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/careers/customs_careers/border_careers/faqs_working_for_the_usbp.xml

This is the official FAQ page of the CBP.gov website. You can’t apply for a job at cbp.gov but they can answer your questions.

Don’t go to other sites. There are websites that supposedly link to the job openings but they may charge money or not work right, etc. I checked one of them out and they only BPA listing they had was old. (http://www.jobsfed.com)

Once you get into the application process OPM will allow you to list your top three choices for a location in which to be posted. Enjoy it… didn’t used to be that way.

You can go to the Department of Justice web site and see if they have a listing for Immigration Officer or Border Patrol Agent.

You don't just waltz in and say you want to be assigned to Arizona as a border patrolman. You have to apply, pass a rigerous background check, a rigerous physical, a series of academic tests which includes a working knowledge of Spanish, and maybe, you will be accepted as a cadet. You have to graduate from FLETC before you become a border patrolman, Once you graduate, you still cannot be guaranteed where you will work. They place you where they need you.
