Prom is 1 over-rated moment in your life...one night and then you probably will never see 90% of those people again in your life. You are not the focus of attention at a prom.
A wedding, all your friends, family, and strangers come to attend, and likely 50% of the people you don't even know, let alone won't see again in your life, but the person you are marrying is the one for life.... You are the focus of attention at your wedding (or hopefully you are).
prom vs wedding....wedding wins.

My prom would be the more important of the two if I was, say, 14. But I'm not. So I'd have to go with my wedding.

Weddings are more important than Prom because they are genuine. Weddings are about love and two people committing there lives to one another. Prom is superficial with girls standing around talking about how much they spent on their dress it is only one night. A Wedding is the beginning of something wonderful and is never forgotten.

I am getting married in April and am so excited! You have to put so much time, effort and thought into planning your wedding that it becomes a huge part of your life.
I can understand why some people may think that prom is a pretty important event. To me, it was just another dance...and the boy I went with has nothing to do with my life anymore.
At a wedding, you are vowing to spend the rest of your life with the man that you love.
Hands down, a wedding is 100x more important than prom.

I went to three proms. I am now getting married to my 2nd and 3rd prom date. So, I guess both are pretty important to me; but the wedding DEFINITELY beats all proms hands down!
Prom isn't something that generally has much meaning to the rest of your life. The wedding does.

Good heavens, you wedding of course. That is the day most girls wait for and plan all their lives. It is the day you commit yourselves to each other in front of friends and family. Proms are great fun and important in a teen's life, but weddings are for mature adults beginning their lives together. However, too many couples plan the wedding and forget to plan their marriage.

Wedding, of course!
Prom is just a date for one night. A wedding starts a lifelong committment.

Prom only last one night, sure you get all dressed up for it, but it is nothing compared to your wedding, when you get married, the gift you receive is your husband whom you love. But, you don't get that on a prom. So, your wedding is more improtant then a prom.

Wow... another person showing their age. Prom is really only important to those 14-17 year olds who have nothing better to think about... Your wedding is much more important, and much more expensive.

I would vote for wedding, since ideally speaking, that is the ceremony that unites two people hopefully for life. Whereas a prom is just a great date.
