First off be careful....laws are very tough concerning this(17). Since he is leaving soon, ask him if you can stay in touch via e-mail, mail, or phone. Study his reaction to this and do not rush things. By keeping in contact you'll guys can get to know each other better. Hey, and by that time you should be 18. The not rushing part should help you decide if it's real feelings your having.
Or just face your fears and ask him! I have found the fear of rejection or the what if's are never as bad as the fear it self. So many missed opportunities can occur because of fear.
Ask yourself >will I ever forgive for not taking the risk?

I've been there. I think that if he hasn't let you know he likes you in 4 years, there might not be anything there worth pursuing. But you could ask. I know I did -- and although I did not get the answer I wanted, I did learn that a harsh truth is better than not knowing. Good luck! -- Erika

He is going away for a while for training so ask him if he would like your address to mail you letters and stuff. Tell him you are interested in what he will be doing. If he writes, he writes. If he doesn't then you will know. Good Luck!

If he is a lot older then you he probably wouldn't want to get into any trouble and maybe sees you more as a sister.. which is good.. at 17 you shouldn't have to worry about boys.. all you need is your friends :O) thats what I did.. save the boys for later..

hold his hand and you can tell if by the way he hold yours.
i don't know, usually it's the little thing that make the biggest impacts(like dynamite, small yet deadly)
