I plan to homeschool my children. What does my preschooler need to know to pass to kindergarten? I don't plan to buy a curriculum until I have to? How do I know he is not already passed preschool and is in kindergarten? Any help would be great

My son is 3 and already smarter than his age group. I want the best for his mind and don't want the public school to slow him down. How do I know when he has finished a grade without buying a curriculum.

Preschool is not required in Iowa. Most of our public schools will assess children and take only the ones that need a bit more help before Kindergarten, the rest either pay for pre-k or do not have it at all.
You need to google search some home school sites and find out exactly what is required in Iowa for homeschooling if you plan to teach beyond pre-k. There is nothing wrong w/ homeschooling, it can be a great thing if done right:)
I wish you luck!

It's a little concerning that you are planning to hold your child's education in your hand, and yet, you have no clue what you need to teach.

Are you a teacher? Or just another parent with that "I can do it much better than the educated professionals can because I have a 'gut feel' for it" nonsense?
