My mum's visiting from overseas and her tooth fell out. She'll be back to her home country in a few weeks where she will get the space permanently filled, but she's wondering if a dentist could provide a stop-gap (pun intended) measure in the meantime. If there is such a thing as a temporary tooth replacement, how much does it cost?

I would call a local dentist (in fact call more than one so you can compare rates). There is something that can be done to hold her over until she gets home. In fact, the dentist will have to take an impression to make her a temporary...since she is paying for the impression...she can ask to take to mold that they have to make with her back to her dentist. (and any xrays that they want to take.)

Yes there is and it is expensive. And also, they may break.
