I have just recently gotten my belly button pierced and I would like to know what products to use to clean it. Thanks.

they should have given you a piercing solution when you got it done. use that and put neosporin on to help it heal faster. just make sure that your hands are clean before you touch it or you will be more likely to get an infection.
good luck and enjoy.

I would recommend cleaning your belly button 3 times a day with an antibacterial soap. After you wash it you can use Bactine on it, it doesn't hurt. You can get Bactine from your local pharmacy in the first aid aisle.

Your belly button piercing will take a long time to heal, so keep an eye on it. When I got mine pierced, I was told to clean it 3 times a day for a few weeks and then I could cut it down to two. It started getting infected, so I went back to cleaning it 3 times a day for a while. If it gets red, swollen and sore (which can mean infection), then clean it more often.

Oh yeah, don't forget to move the ring around when you're washing it. Use warm water when cleaning it, it will help unstick and remove the crust that naturally occurs when healing. Try not to wear anything that would irritate it. Also, don't fiddle around with the ring while it's healing, you could actually cause infection.

The best way to keep it clean and germ-free is to use a very mild soap such as Provon or use one part Dial with one part warm water. Use a Q-Tip to clean the jewely and the area around it twice a day, and once a week soak the piercing in a sea salt solution. Don't try to use regular salt, but just put a little in a shot glass and hold it over the area. Also, remember it takes longer than an regular earring to heal, so dont change the jewelry for 3-6 months. Hope this helps, and good luck! ps- I can't speak for others, but when i had mine done they said to definitly not use Neosporin...

The only thing I've ever used on any of my piercings (including belly-button) is hot water and a Q-Tip. Definitely don't put alcohol or anything like that on it, and Neosporin will trap germs and such inside of it. Run a Q-Tip under hot water and with clean hands, spin the jewelry and clean the piercing with it. Antibacterial soap is also good! Just avoid touching it too much, resist the temptation.

do nto listen to the people who say alcohol or neosporin or (hydrogen peroxide either) these are all very very harmful for piercings!

the piercer shoudl have told you the proper aftercare without even you having to ask.....

neosporin (or any ointments) will trap the LYMPH (discharge thats a atural part of the healing process) any ointment will cover the exit holes and prevent teh discharge from escaping. these intments cause a moist environment perfect for a bacteria to grow since the discharge has noowhere to go!

hydrogen peroxide and alcohols, dry out, irritate, and cause a longer healing duration for the piercings

so all of these products do alot more harm than any good...

you shoudl use the antibacterial sop after showereing you shoudl pick up some aftercare piercing solution from a different pierce shop since they obviously didnt have any....

use the pierce solution twice daily and do these sea salt soaks once a day fro 15 minutes (i used a shot glass and just tipped it over) these sea salt soaks are the best for the piercing. they cleanse the piercing, the warm water draws out the lymph and it aids i healing, cuases you new epiercing to heal faster!

good luck with your new piercing! wear lose shirts and lower jeans/pants to avoid snagging and tearing your piercing also! and you are not advised to go swimming anywhere within the first 3 months!

this piercing can take well over a year to heal!

mine is 6 months old and is still healing

good luck =)

bactine is also not advised it says "not for puncture wounds" on the botle. a piercing is a puncture wound

but please do not use any ointments, alcohols or hydrogen peroxide on your piercing! it only does more harm than good!

use ivory soap. it doesn't leave any residue.

i just got mine peirced about a week ago, and they actually gave me a bar of ivory soap and told me to wash it thoroughly twice a day.. also, if you are washing it in the shower, wash your hair and use all of your other products before using the ivory soap to wash your belly button..

when washing it, make sure to move the ring/barbell (whichever one you got it peirced with) up and down to get the soap inside of it, and make sure to wash all of the soap off.

=] good luckk

Dial soap and warm water. Never use anything that will dry it out (like alcohol). Also, soak with salt water a few times a day.

I used anti-bacterial hand soap to wash my belly and put neosporin after. Never got infected.
