I can only answer this question in reference to UK law.

On the whole it is illegal to supply prescription only medicines to patients without a prescription. The exception is "emergency supply" where the patient has been prescribed the medication before by a UK registered doctor, there is and immediate need for the medicine, and a reason why the patient cannot see a doctor (eg the surgery is closed for the weekend). Only a limited amount is given (5 days worth or less) and even then not all drugs can be supplied.

The online companies may be exploiting some sort of loop-hole in the law to supply these prescription medicines, but even so selling them is (in my opinion) ethically wrong. Prescription only medications require a prescription because their safe use requires a level of medical supervision. Using an online service to obtain them without prescription is potentially dangerous and not worth the risk, you could end up taking the wrong medicines or even delaying diagnosis of a serious condition. It may seem tempting to use these sites but you're are much better off getting a prescription from your doctor.

It short ignore the sites SEE YOUR DOCTOR and get them legit.

Completely Illegal! In the US we have a version of what the woman from the UK explained. I know that my pharmacy will give me a weekend supply if I accidentally leave my meds in another state or something. Actually had an airline lose my suitcase with all my meds in it once so I know they'll do emergency pills but it's usually a 3 day supply or something like that and only if it's a situation where the doctor just plain can't be reached. And just for reference always carry your meds in your carry-on bag.

ordering drugs online can cut costs considerably. A Consumer Reports study found that savings can reach 25% or more.
The key, experts say, is to shop around and to stay away from the often pricey sites that offer to sell "lifestyle" drugs such as Viagra and Propecia without a visit to your doctor's office. Those sites can charge as much as double the usual cost of such drugs.

Don't forget to include shipping expenses in your online prescription comparisons. Although the cost of delivery by standard mail is nominal at many sites, and free at others, it can become quite expensive if you need overnight delivery.
Generic drugs are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have the investment costs of the developer of a new drug. New drugs are developed under patent protection. The patent protects the investment--including research, development, marketing, and promotion--by giving the company the sole right to sell the drug while it is in effect. As patents near expiration, other manufacturers can apply to the FDA to sell generic versions. Because those manufacturers don't have the same development costs, they can sell their product at substantial discounts. Also, once generic drugs are approved, there is greater competition, which keeps the price down. Today, almost half of all prescriptions are filled with generic drugs.

yes I have. You could get in trouble. The distributors could get in more trouble than you. Inhousepharmacy.com. It is a legit site with low prices. You cannot find EVERY drug there though. You could laso be buying anything..remember you are not getting medicine from a doctor with a prescription..so basically they could be sending you placebos. I buy my seizure meds there because they are cheaper and I cannot afford to go to the doc.

I know someone that did get a drug from online without a prescripton......one time..they took the patients money then sent her a form for her doctor to sign...of course we didn't and she lost her money......no one would do it for her
then we had several patients trying to get diet pills from an online pharmacy and that pharmacy would fax a sheet to our office for the doctors signature.....they even called a few times...Of course we do NOT prescribe diet pills of any kind any more since all the lawsuits came out of fen-fen....so told that company to never would they be authorized from my doctor for a diet pill
