i'm 14 too...i'm not really sure why you are asking 'how do i tell if i'm depressed' if you said you were depressed at the beginning of the year. that doesn't make much sense. and if you are depressed...try participating in things you love. if you're artistic....paint, draw, whatever....whenever you are depressed. it might help. usually when i am depressed i keep myself busy...like go out...anywhere. take a walk. talk to your friends. go out with friends to the mall or movies... even clean. by keeping busy you don't have to think about the things that are causing you to be depressed. hope this helps....but its better if you don't cut. why would you want to do something that harms yourself?

i think u should stop worrying about things that are not important to you & don't listen to people that get you angery ok life is to short so stop making little things in your heart so big i am 14 too what i do when i am depressed is; cry, draw, paint of how i feel, shop, listen to my fav music, dance,or if you dont have time 4 all that just scream into your pillow i am not trying to hert your feelings but it is better than herting your body because what good is it doing it is just herting you more but you don't know that and also you are not depressed you are feeling sorry 4 you self and you know it is wrong cutting your self (doing somthing you love is worth dieing for and doing something you dont love is not wroth it

I've went through the same thing started around that age too...I just slowly grew out of it and found other things to take my depression out on...I am also bipolar so i would black out and not remember doing the cutting..But keep your mind occupied with something that makes you happy or just something to occupy your mind..I know it's not real informative but it's hard to explain what to do..But tell your parents, just tell them you need to see someone to get help...They will be glad you did..

You must seek Psychiatric Help and treatment to help overcome this disorder. Contact your local community mental health association.

Darling... Please don't look for any deep answers on here. Look to someone around you who you feel you may be able to trust and let them help you find someone you can sit down with and talk about "stuff" with. Sometimes it is just enough to talk and other times just to listen.
Good luck! And don't give up on yourself... There are people who really do care. Me for one.

You need to see someone. Dont try and deal with it yourself. See a school social welfare officer or speak to an adult you trust.
