In the past month my 8 year old cat, liddy has been acting very odd. Specificaly within the past week she has been very seclusive. She rarely comes when we call her..and she almost seems to ignore us! My first though was to take her to the vet..I thought she might be losing some of her hearing..but as i observe her more and more i think its something different. Her eyes are almost always dilated and even if shes sitting right next to you and oyu make a loud nois, she'll only push back her ears. Not even turn her head and lok at you.
This is very strange for her, shes surrounded with great tihngs, just me, my mom, and my dad. any thoughts on what could be wrong??

My dad mentioned something today making me slightly nervous..he said he was listening to a religious radio station and that people were saying all animals had been acting strange lately. They thought maybe there was going to be some sort of tragedy...could this be true? have other animals been acting strangely, too?

If her eyes are dilated and she is behaving strangely she may be blind. Have her seen as soon as possible by a veterinarian. Cats may memorize their surroundings and make it hard for us to recognize the vision loss. She may have something that is treatable if found quickly such as retinal detachment or glaucoma. Has she been eating and drinking normally? One of the most common reasons for retinal detachment (resulting in bilateral dilation) is systemic hypertension (high blood pressure) due to kidney disease. If this is treated within a few days they may recover some vision.

FWIW - my cats are acting very normally and I haven't heard of any odd behavior without cause - you need to have her seen.

My first thoughts on your cat are that you should definately take her to the veterinarian. There are several things that could be causing her to act the way she is. If she has a bad case of ear mites it can be very painful for her and she could have partial loss of hearing. The same is true if she has wax build up.
Another cause could be from an infection. It's very important for her health to have someone look at her in case she needs any medications.
None of my animals ( I have 5 cats, a dog, 2 horses, 2 goats, an iguana and a gekko) are acting strange but I may live in a different area then you do. Please, for your cats health please take her to the vet.

Take her to a vet, she might have vision problems or be going through small seizures. Do not listen to stories about animals acting strange. Its the people who act strange that cause tradgedies.

I'm sure she's fine. My cat doesn't listen when I call her, yet, but she's still only a kitten, 8 months, and she always acts weird, but that's her familial background. I wouldn't worry too much about it. But if you are worried about it, take her to the vet as soon as you can.

okay, the first thing I would do is take your cat to the vet.
How long has your kitty been like this?
Maybe he got outside and somebody messed with him in a harmful way. First thing I would do is take him to the vet.

My cat sometimes does that maybe you and your family are not paying enough attention to her. Like my cat if we don't play with her she'll ignore us. But if we play with her she will sleep with us and purr. Another reason might be is that you and you're family are paying TO much attention to her like chasing her, or holding her too much if we do that to my cat she would ignore us totally!
And for that religious thingy maybe owners are treating their pets differently! Pets LOVE to get their own way especially CATS!
