I get around, and have many wonderful friends. The one thing that I have realized is that all of my friends are well dressed, well educated, and an awful lot of fun to be around. They also happen to be well accomodated financially. A friend at lunch observed that poor people may be being punished by God for something that they did. I'm not so sure about that, but I have to say that I notice poor people in the grocery store line tend to make a big ruckus about things, and they are hideously unpleasant on public transportation...putting their feet up on the seats, throwing garbage on the floor etc. I'm not saying that the poor are poor because they are being punished by God. I guess I am wondering why they can't be little nicer.

It is not about affluence but education.

Usually, those that had more education or learned a lot in life had more experiences about the proper way to interact with others.

Of course rich people are happier, but are they TRULY nicer? I don't think so! Poor people are struggling to survive.. and are often born into poverty. Unfortunately, a lot of people living in poverty don't see a way out and decide they are stuck. I wish more young people living in poverty realized that there is financial aid, grants given by the government that don't have to be paid back to go to college, usually fully paid! But that also brings forth another downfall of living in a poor community.. poor education. It isn't easy to get into a good college with a poor education.. THANK GOD for community college!

I live near Annapolis, MD which is full of wealthy sheltered people who live on the water and think that everyone gives a crap about their boat. Thank God I am middle class!

Different mentality thinking. Rich people think different than the poor people do. Rich people may have parents with high expectations, and taught to behaves approperately around people.

Poor people come from different background which may or may not contribution to their finanical conditions. Some are from broken home which they learned from their parent's irresponsible behaviors and duplications.

Not having money or having too much money is not the reasons but the attitude of the parent toward life and others, where the children learn and adopted the behavor patterns.

I think that you are trying to make a stereotype. There are rich people who are polite and educated, but not all of them. It is important to say that there are many guys and girls whose parents are rich and they behave like idiots. Some people are mean and arrogant because they think they are better and like to look down on others. Having money does not mean having nice customs or being nicer than others. Being nice depends of a lot of factors such as moral principles, personality, parenthood and so on. I used to work in a restaurant where rich people used to go, and many times I saw some rich teenagers putting their feet on the seat, leaving the restroom very nasty, using profanity and making the waitress to feel down. There are poor people who also are nice.

Hmph, not true. That is too much of a general statement for it to be true. My opinion however, its' hard being poor. Rich people tend to get the things they want and it is difficult to always be broke. Being logical: poor people should take care of what they have because it may not come to them anymore, then they'll just get more upset when when they have even less. Look, everything is just twisted.

Put yourself in the "poor's" place for a minute. You're going to and from work everyday with all this stress on your mind wondering how you might have to take from "Peter" to pay "Paul" because you didn't make enough in the paycheck this period to cover the bills. You also had to wake up earlier because you also had to walk a certain distance just to take public transportation and then stand up all the way due to crowding on the bus.
Now look at your friends. They might be better off financially and better educated so they might not have all that stress on their minds because they can afford to handle their day to day affairs better due to their higher incomes.

It's our socitey that reinforces the sense of entitlement. The people that are entitled to never work a day in their life instead live off the tax payers, the people who thrive only on a hand out instead of a hand up, the people that feel everyone owes them something.... I see their ugly personalities all the time in retail drugstores. Don't get me wrong there are plenty of deserving people who appreciate it when they are given the help, but the rest of them arent worth the dirt that resides on their bodies. I have seen first hand what people do when you bend over backwards to give them fulltime management position with benefits and then dont show up to work for 4 days with no phone call.

hmmmmmmmmmm

often rich people PRETEND to be nicer, better manners, etc. Then they backstab each other depending on whos stock is doing better that week, or who just bought the best boat or the prettiest wife.

Often , life is easier for rich people so they are not as stressed out. Better food too so healthier.

Its just random, what hand you get dealt. It often changes year to year. In the US poor people often become rich and rich people often become poor.

I'm sorry you've had such a limited experience. I know some very nice rich people and I have also heard of mean ones. Likewise, I have known some very nice poor people and also met some mean ones. It all depends on whether you choose to be nice.

I agree with tranquil.
Some people are mean because they are bitter. However, I have met many nice poor people. I don't really know many rich people, but the don't seem to be nicer, on average, than poor people.
