Considering it's not a complicated technique, it's a little difficult to answer that question. It's like asking where the kick came from, or the punch. I'm sure that at two completely separate and polar positions on the globe the spinning backfist was invented. It's a basic technique. You see its prominence however in Karate, which originated in mainland China. Shaolin Kwan Fa = Kenpo. Sooo, karate is my best guess.

Keep in mind the earliest known martial arts originated in Africa though.... and the spinning backfist might have been 'created' there first.

Hmm, this is a tough one... I see there is some unique perspectives on history. The first main culture probably had someone who used in on pure instict or with some inspiration. The greek or roman or egyptian fighters or gladiators probably did use the attack with fight or sword or spear. There are quite a few arts that use a spinning attack of some sort so that would be hard to track down the first person to use it or teach it. As far as where did martial arts originate... wow, that depends upon your definition and how much history you are willing to study I suppose.
Peace.

The spinning back fist is a generally reckless move, so creating space between you and your opponent while you retain balance is the best recommended option. When the opponent misses, he is wide open for counters. I would think a kick hitting the body on the side where the punch is extended would do the trick.

Some of the oldest martial arts still used today come from China and India. Shaolin legend have them coming from Indian Boxing. The spinning backfist was part of the regimen taught to the Shaolin monks by the Dharma. So it goes back at least that far.

You can learn it from any form of Kung Fu, Karate or Kickboxing.
