bottle of wine in my possession that the cashier forgot to ring up? I thought I had paid for it with the rest of my stuff. Now the store wants to press charges. What should I do?

I'm hoping that the last few people who answered didn't seriously think you were talking about a ten year old child.... Read, people!!

As for the bottle of wine, explain that you thought they had rung it up, and that it was their mistake not yours, but that you are willing to return the wine. Did they put it in the bag for you, did they scan it too quickly?

I wouldn't however, recomend offering any bribes as that might rile them more...lol

First of all, would you reword this question. I'm going to trust that you simply didn't realize how the "question" section was worded. Because the question looks like it is written about a pedophile.

As far as the bottle of wine, I would go back to the store and ask them what you can do about it. Really, when you realized that the clerk forgot to ring it up, you should have gone back and paid for it. Even if you have to pay extra, I would get this resolved voluntarily instead of waiting for the judge to render a verdict.

Golly, I guess I DID just fall off the turnip truck! Am I the ONLY one who thinks this dude is trying to be funny? Yeah, he was caught with a 10 year old. Bottle of wine, that is. Okie dokie. Like the AGE of the wine would have ANYTHING to do with a charge of shoplifting. LOL

I say, get a better comedy writer and stick to more socially acceptable plays on words. There is NOTHING funny about pedophilia.

Explain that you do a lot of business at the store and it was just a mistake. Offer to pay for the wine and give them a little extra for their trouble. If this doesn't work, contact the local news media and have them do a story about it. I'm sure that after the news gets involved, the store will be more reasonable.

Were you caught with a 10 year old child or 10 year old bottle of wine? if the first you should be put in a room with no doors or windows and kept away from all children, if the 2nd - be sincere and hope they buy it.

Tell the truth, if the cashier didn't ring it up it was a simple mistake. keep the receipt, and pay it back and see if there is anyway for u to repay it back without pressing charges.

Did you do that just to get a rise out of people? I am sure you did.... now alot of people probably think you are a sick perverted freak and have no idea that you are talking about wine.. NOT a ten year old child.

I thought that you meant a ten year old child and a bottle of wine. THAT would suck.

Get a lawyer and countersue.
