I just got a palate expander and it's a real annoyance. -_-
I was just wondering if there was any possible or safe way to tongue-kiss somebody if you have one of those in your mouth. I really hope so, because I might visit (or be visited by) my lover this summer when I'll still have this in my mouth, and it would really suck to not be able to kiss. =[

Uhm, a palate expander is a metal contraption put into my mouth to expand my upper jaw. It run across the roof of my mouth and is connected onto the two tooth on either side of my mouth right behind the canine's. It's really a bother. I'm sure you can find some images of it if you search "palate expander" on google images or somethin'.

I used to have a palate expander and it was fine to kiss/ tongue-kiss.

I had that problem too. After about a month you can speak pretty well, and after about two you speak normally. The braces may need wax on some brackets the first few weeks until your mouth stops getting caught, and the expander may give you headaches so have tylenol ready. Ice cream and chocolate will be your best friends. After about a week with the brace things won't be sore, but learn to check and see if any stray bits of food stuck around :) You don't want your smile-in-progress covered with leftover sandwich. Milkshakes are the best option because you can suck them up easily and they numb your teeth a little. Other than that, unfortunately, you just have to wait until its over. Mine took almost four years, and then theres the retainer....

My son has a palate expander in but he is only 7 years old. He dosen't tongue kiss yet but I know he can stick out his tongue so I would say, yes, you can kiss that way!

The palate expander will not hinder you tongue-kiss style if your partner is fully aware that you have it ;)

that's anew and original one for me, well warn your lover what they're about to experience and see what s/he thinks about that.
ALso talk to your doctor, she what he/or she says, maybe the'll have better advice on silling and other stuff with that expander.

just let him know that you have an appliance and well probe it yourself with your tounge if it causes you pain then hopefully it will not this summer but if you let him know it could be a fun came of "lets find out shall we"
