I think it's a human reaction. I feel it stems from insecurity. Some people can't handle having their beliefs questioned. Not believing the same way they do or the same thing they do can be seen as being questioned. It also makes me think their faith isn't as strong as they think it should be, so they over compensate by putting down other belief systems.

A good Christian should not devalue anyone. Now that doesnt mean they will be accwpting but they should say there viewpoint in a respectful way and If it is there choosing they will try to show you a different way any christian who is mean or hateful over someones differences isnt a Christian in my book. Judge not for ye be judged

As sala'amu alei'kum, azizi.
It is, verily, a very sad thing that the People of the Book hate each other, nowadays!
Hate is so much against the Will of Allah, our Father, who loves us all equally, for He is the Most Merciful, the Most Beneficient.
This is why I have turned my back upon Islam which is not in keeping with the Will of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Beneficient.
May Peace and Blessings be upon all of you.
Ma sala'amah, ya azizi.

Here you are pointing out that people of different beliefs are hateful, yet you only mention Christianity. Are you saying only Christians do this? Would that then make you guilty of the same thing that you find so annoying?
God Bless you and have a Happy New Year.

Fear of the unknown. People who fear different religions soon hate it. They don't want anything to threaten their beliefs. They want everything to be perfect in their little world and they will not tolerate anything that is different - what if it was right. Fear is the drive behind much hate and intolerance.

Not all religions are like this, only exclusivist religions. They do so out of fear and desire to control.
There are religions in the world that believe there is good in all belief systems.
