My cat is getting a little bit pudgy, and he's eating way too much. How do I get him to slow it down while keeping him from crying at me endlessly?

1. Diet Food is good. (Purina Indoor Formula, IAMS has a formula too)
2. Stop giving him/her handouts at the table.
3. Sometimes, you can increase exercise to help with the pudgyness. My cat does not move much at all. See if you can play with your kitty for an extra half hour each night.

The only way to stop the cat eating as much is to not feed him a lot. Unfortunately there is no way to prevent him crying for food.

Try playing with him or teach him to walk on a lead then u & him can walk down to the park. This will give him excercise.....it may seem hard at first to teach him to walk on a lead but with a little time & patience ur cat will love getting out with u. All my catz walk on a lead.

Gd luck

If you leave food out all day, you may want to feed him twice a day and maybe a cup of dry cat food at a time. When he is done eating, take the food away. Coax him with a toy catnip mouse and he will forget about the food. He is just used to be spoiled. If you do this, he will get used to the routine of him being fed twice a day.

I have outdoor cats and I feed them once a day because they hunt. They always let me know when it is time to feed them. So don't worry if he meows at a certain time everday. He is expecting food.

You can't.

You're going to have to put him on a diet, and get used to the fact that he's going to cry for more food. He'll do it until he realizes that you won't get it for him when he asks.

And when you go to feed him, don't let him meow for it. When he starts to meow, make a "shh" sound, short and loud, and that should get him to stop. Keep doing it until he stays quiet. Then you can give him his food. If you give him his food while he's asking for it, he'll just keep asking, and asking, and asking!

You might want to invest in a pair of ear plugs, or a really loud speaker, to plug into the tv or stereo! LOL

Consistancy, patience, and more patience, is the key. Just remember, you're putting you cat on a diet because you love him, you want him to be healthy. You're not doing this to punish him, or yourself!

Feed him a tad less then what you normally do. Divide that into several portions that you can dole out when he starts to cry for food. I feed my cat about a cup of wet food everyday and I divide that into 3 or 4 portions doled out when he is awake and active: first portion when he wakes and asks for food; second portion after he plays and wants to nap; last portion when he and I are going "beddy-bye."

Buy it diet formula food but also make sure that's your little kitty is still getting the vitamins and minerals it still needs.. It's important that even if you try to put it on a diet, that the little one still gets the nutrients it needs.. That's a lot of mistakes cat owners make when they put thier animals on diets. And of course make sure the little kitty gets plenty of exercise..

less food more often. and low fat food. If you just give her food when she cries she will learn to do it more and more. Animals have no self controle because they are dsigned to eat all they can get so it is your job to controle her food. Maybe some toys she like to play with to help her burn cals.
A little cat nip never hurts.

Try to feed him a little bit at a time each day. Just enough so that he will get his fill for the day.
