Ive gone through alot in my life...rape, eating disorders, and MANY abusive relationships which left me in an extreme depression. The last few years my life has finally started to peice itself back together. I graduate college in a year with my BS in Accounting...at age 20 and after only 2 years at Berkley, im engaged to the love of my life, and ive finally worked through my depression, but the one thing that hasnt fixed itself is my confidence. I would like to learn how to love myself so that i could be more competative in the business world and just more confident in life. This would really complete things for me. Any advice would help, thanks

Make a Happy Album for yourself...

it doesnt have to be creatively fancy just a photo album or scrap book with little pictures and mementoes of the happy times in your life, include all of your successes, sounds like you have a lot, and pictures of the people who have been good to you... write about the kindnesses people have shown you and the good things you know that people do....spend time finding powerful positive quotes to add to the album that inspire you and make you feel good about being you... add some pictures of great art works that make you feel good too... and also a list of all the great attributes you have... make a thankful list too... a list of things you are thankful for...

leaf through the album often... recite your list of achievements and your list of good attributes ....and your thankful list...

every day choose one quote from your book to remind yourself about how good life is... write it on a card and carry it with you.. reas it over several times through the day...

To feel more confident in yourself it is necessary to feel more confident about the world you live in as well.... this album will help do both..

Have fun with it and decorate it if and how you like..

Well for a starter give yourself a big pat on your back for all your achievements in life, because you really deserve it!!
Things like that helps your self esteem.
What helps to destroy your self esteem is when you self talk to yourself in a negative manner
like saying to yourself " i'm an idiot
or i should have done this better or its all my fault or
i'm dense dumb stupid etc etc etc!!
when you start to say those things to yourself correct yourself straight away & say well i may act like an idiot some times but 99% of the time i make very good choices etc.
it is all that bad talk you give yourself that you have to stop doing because that makes you sad etc & destroys your self esteem.Make sure you do keep it up telling yourself that you really have done very very well because from what i know about you, you are one very clever person to pick yourself up after what you have been through & to Graduate College etc you should be very Proud of yourself
Keep up the good work Soldier

My advice is to go shopping!
By some outfits that scream glam. Get some earring that show off the outfit. Get a new hairdo that you always dreamed of having. You could also go to a spa. When you can walk around in public knowing that you look great then you will feel great and proud of yourself. This isn't just for shallow people either. Every girl has a little princess in themselves that loves to get pampered and look pretty.

Read webpage below and your self-esteem will go up. It tells how self-mastery things like yoga, martial arts and meditation help a lot. Also check out page on depression for diet that helps you avoid it in case you are concerned about it coming back.

GOOD JOB on getting rid of it. Deep inside you is your true self which is perfect and in perfect peace and cannot be hurt. Read teenage advice page and see IS THERE LIFE AFTER DEATH for a scientific explanation.

I believe one of the best ways to be confident is to improve yourself where ever you can, and be honest to yourself. Don't act in ways to impress people, be yourself it makes you happier.
