If it's really a purebred bulldog it shouldn't have much of a tail.

No, bulldogs (French and English) should be born with what is called a screw tail. It should corkscrew around, and shouldn't be docked. If you have an American Bulldog they are not supposed to have a docked tail either.

HELL NO YOU DON"T DOCK A BULLDOG'S TAIL!

Didn't you know enough or anything about this particular breed BEFORE you shelled out the bucks for it?

Hi
English Bulldogs get a natural screw tail as they get older.

I would soundly object to ever putting any dog through a Tail docking or an ear cropping. That is just cruel.

I hope this is clear

NNNNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Docking anything on a dog is painful for them, and cruel! It may look good, or make them look tougher, but do you have any idea how painful that would be to the dog?!

Would you like it if someone stuck a rubber band around an essential part of your body, just to make you look tough??

A dog's tail is more then just a weapon when excited! Like cat's, they use it for balance. They also use it as a weapon against ivaders or threatening animals. They may wag their tail slowly, to say get away from me, or i'm irritated. If the other animal can't see the tail, a fight can occur, and you could be held responsible!

I don't think so, not if its a bull dog? Mine is mixed bull boxer and i didn't do it. I was told the tail is needed for balance!! I was told this by someone at the vets office ,she was checking my pup and i ask about it! Also if you go online and search for bulldog pictures you will see that they have their tails! the american bull dog is big and has its tail. i think the english bull dog does too! I know you clip the boxers tails. I had a boxer for yrs.

If a tail is to be docked, the breeder should have had that done at 3-4 days old. Any later than that and it is a major surgery.

No. Docking of tails should only be done (if at all) when the pup is but a few days old. I personally believe it should only ever be done if the dog has a grievous injury to its tail and if that injury is never going to heal, such as a degloving of the tail.

you don't say what kind of bulldog you have. but if it should have been docked, it should have been done between 3&5 days old. so, NO you should leave it alone at this point. too painful and expensive.

No ! Leave him alone ! How else will he show you that he is happy if he has nothing to wag ? Also, it is a cruel practice !
