You can but if the coating chips mold can develop under the coating and tarnish the ring making it darn near impossible to clean

You don't need to put a coating on platinum to keep it shiny. Platinum is a more precious metal and has a much higher luster than gold or silver. It is very resistant to tarnishing. If it starts to look a bit dull or dirty, all you need to do is send it back to the jeweler to be cleaned.

I would not put anything on it. Go to a jewler for suggestions.
