it makes no sense. i mean, the world is already on its way to overpopulation and these kids deserve a chance too. plus it would probably be cheaper and less time consuming and less painful(especially if you are one of those older women who tries the treatment 10 times before it works) to adopt an orphan and give them a chance at a great life!? instead of cruelly having a kid when your like 45 so that they can tell their friends that their birth mum is 60 when they are only 15.

Not only are there orphans in Asia and Africa there are tons right here in the US as well.I agree that world is on it's way to overpopulation and I am all for adoption!! Women try all kinds of different procedures to have a baby and they end up having multiple babies at once, sometimes sextuplets!! Shameful

My cousin and his wife have been struggling through infertility for 10 years. This year, they had saved up enough money to try artificial insemination (my cousin has no viable sperm due to a medical condition that did not respond to treatment). One of the reasons they would like to try to conceive a baby before considering adoption is that my cousin's wife's family has a history of breast cancer. Having babies and breast feeding has been linked to a reduced risk of breast cancer. They will try adoption, but not until they have tried everything they can to have a baby. Why should adopting an orphan from Asia or Africa only be recommended for couples struggling with infertility? With your reasoning, every couple should adopt instead of conceiving more children as long as there are orphans in the world. Having a baby when you are 45 is in no way cruel to anyone. When that baby is 20, mom will only be 65, which is far from ancient. Many people live full and vital lives well into their 80's and 90's. Every couple has the right to decide how to add (or not add) children to their lives depending on what they feel is right for them.

Some people think it's important to have their own biological children. It's difficult, time consuming and expensive to adopt. IVF treatments are covered by health insurance in my state and don't require screening processes to accomplish. Why not focus on eliminating the number of foreign orphans by distributing birth control to those countries, rather than expecting Americans to go out of their way to solve a problem that's not their responsibility?

as someone who has gone through the pain of infertility, I have 2 things to say. 1 is that I myself would have adopted before going through treatments that cost thousands of dollars. 2) people who have never experienced infertility have no right to judge those who have. Many women want the experience of pregnancy and childbirth, and that's okay. We spend thousands of dollars on many less worthwhile things just for the sake of experience (luxury cars, bigger houses than we need, better quality food than we have to have, electronics, travel, the list goes on.)

What money do you spend on things you don't need? Think of all the starving kids in Africa. We could be donating money to them. We could end world hunger with what we spend on cigarette advertising, and yet people harp on those who want kids.

You know i believe it is just for the feeling of having your own child. it is nothing like experiencing motherhood. This experience is irreplaceable. I just recently had my first child and i never thought i would be able to love someone more than my brother who i raised.
dont get me wrong i want more children and i probably will adopt them but i want my child to help me pick her brother or sister that she will treat as her blood family.

Well bloods thicker than water to use a cliche, people want thier own genes and thier own blood to bring up, not to mention they usually want a child of thier own race.
I agree it would be great if they were happy to just have a kid from China or Africa, Angelina Jolie's an exception but most people arn't into it

It is sad I know, I wish everyone who is unable to have children would think this way instead of going through treatments, as there are so many children out there who are in need of a good home. I can understand though the other side of it as they want their own children, something that is a part of them.

Because they want to have their own children. Just because that is not a good reason for you, does not mean it is not a good reason for someone else.

The don't really want a child. They want a little copy of themselves. What would make a better baby than their superior DNA. In addition many parents want to live vicariously through their childern and this is apparently easier when they look like you. And frankly many white couples don't want to create a "Mixed Race" family.
