I am in training to be a certified car seat tech.
Your child needs to be 4 feet 9 inches before they can sit in the adult seat belt.
40-80 -booster seat
20-40- convertable car seat
birth-20lbs and 1 year old- rear facing infant or convertable seat.

the child i believe has to be either at least 60 lbs of 6 sixs oldthats the law,plus for safety children are recommended to not to sit in the front passenger seat until they are at least 12

Depends where you live.... I live in British Columbia, and I believe they now say that kids should be in a booster seat until they are 80 pounds!!!

it really depends where you are.. in Calif where i am it is currently 6 yrs or 60 lbs but there was talk of changing that to 80 lbs

You need to check by state, check with your local babies r us. IN ohio it is 7 years or 70 lbs.
