Some of the previous answers are right. Lifting heavy weights (heavy in that you can do no more than 8 reps in a single set) and increasing your caloric intake will help. Just make sure your increased calories are from healthy foods and you avoid loading up on fat calories.
I found that drinking a couple protein shakes a day, in addition to my usual meals and new workout routine, helped me gain almost 10 lbs of muscle in just a few months. It takes work, but it's possible.

Some people have a very high metabolism and it is very hard for them to gain or maintain a good weight. The best way is to eat 6 times a day, Drink Ensure or a nutritional drink. (Not an energy drink) and take vitamins. This will provide you with the protein and nutrition your body needs and it will stop burning muscle to keep energy.

Many people attempt to gain weight simply through increasing the quantity of their food intake, but this is ultimately ineffective. While I'm not aware of your current situation, a change in diet is a more recommended solution, eating higher calory foods such as meats helps.

Try not to gain weight, but lean muscle. Exercise and do weight training a few times a week.

well, if you are really skinny/underweight
but you eat alot you probably have a fast matabolism.
One thing you DO NOT want to do is
just eat alot til' you get stuffed.
and DON'T eat alot of fatty foods.
With a fast matabolism you can eat ANYTHING
you want, and you won't get fat.
And that is NOT the best thing.
when your older that fast motabolism
will wear out and you will be
over weight,and unhealthy.
overweight +unhealthy= heart attacks, shorter life, you may not grow as well(like to the right hight. dont wanna be short,do you?) and diabeeties.
they are all horrible things and the best thing to do is
eat healthy, and eat enough.
DON'T gorge yourself with
fatty foods, and fast food to gain weight because
it WON'T WORK.
Eat right, be right.

It depends. Do you want a pot belly, toning, or overall gaining weight?
If you want a belly or hips eat fatty foods or beer. Prehaps try naturally fatty foods like bacon.
If you want to tone you should lift weights.
If you are wanting to just gain overall weight, its best to keep your diet and just it more of it.

It would be best if you talked to your doctor before starting anything. He/she might actually be able to tell you why you are unable to gain weight and give you something to help.
Much love,
