round; it seems more social and closeness. Everyone can be involved instead of singling out a specific group of people. Also easier to move around especially if your in a big dress.

I'm going with a long table. But that's only because of the small guest list. We're only having 20 people at most. If we had round tables it would break people up way too much. Instead we're having a long table so everyone will be facing each other. It reminds me of a Thanksgiving family dinner. Anyway, if I had a larger guest list I'd go with round tables. That way there'd be roughly 8 people at each one facing each other. People can always mingle if they want.

There are 5 of us in the family, but the boys have friends over a lot, so we find an 8 chair Borkholder Amish Handcrafted Long table to work best for us. It expands to 9 ft. for larger get togethers also.....
Besides, our dining room is huge & a round table would look goofy sitting in the middle of such a large area.

I think that round tables are more condusive for discussion than long tables. However, if you have people at a table who are not talkative or you do not like each other it can be a very uncomfortable situation. Also, long tables can allow you more space in the room.

Round is much more elegant looking, and nicer for conversation but it if you are tight on space, a long table set up can get more people into the same size room.

Round seems more friendlier. Long tables make me thing of rich people who sit at either end and don't talk.

Round tables are more intimate and less like a cafeteria.
