Pre-tax deductions are things that were taken out of your paycheck before taxes were taken out. Usually that is your 401(k) or IRA and some kinds of health insurance, and when you get a pre-tax deduction, you end up with a little more money. Example: if you make $200 per week and put 10% to your 401(k) and another 20% for taxes, if the IRA is pre-tax, your pay works like this:
200 less 20 (for the IRA) leaves 180. Taxes at 20%= you pay $36 in taxes and end up with $144 in your hand
If the IRA is post-tax, it looks like this:
200 take out tax at 20%= $160, less 10% ($160) for your IRA = also $144 in your hand, but your IRA does not have as much going into it.

Pre-tax deductions also lower how much overall you owe in taxes; in the first example above, your annual tax would be based on $9360 earnings, but in the second, it's based on $10400. I picked $200 salary/week just because the numbers are easy to work with but you can see, in the second example, you would have to pay taxes on several hundred dollars more than with the pre-tax deductions.

Total tax deductions means all the money held back for taxes all together: Federal, State (if your state collects them), local (county or city) added up.

PS. Please check your spelling, it does not make you seem like the kind of person who would have a job let alone be worried about pre-tax deductions!

pre tax dedustions are things like health insurance that you are not taxed on because they come out before the tax is calculated. Total tax deductions is the total tax that comes out of that check. Check out this site for other tax related questions- it will even do your taxes for you for free!
