It is not good to eat or drink anything beyond the expiration date!

If you're drinking hot tea or making ice from hot tea, you're okay. The boiling water will kill any bacteria that might have begun to grow. Unfortunately, the tea will taste stale. If you try this you will know what I mean.

In a sealed box, tea can still be used for up to a year after the expiration date. In an opened box, maybe a month beyond expiration at most.

Fresh Tea from a Tea shop needs to be tossed. Tea bags from the grocery store last forever, although the taste tends to get funny after about a year.

Anything you put into your body....you should be very concerned. If it is experied? Toss it. Here is a life lesson for you...Never cut corners on food and alcohol. Eat good food. Dont drink cheap beer or wine...or liquor. Throw the tea away, get some new tea and cut your financial losses on clothes or really crappy Robin Williams movies.

expiration dates are ESTIMATIONS, it will vary by the method of STORAGE. Was it in the fridge, or a cool dry place not exposed to light? Tea is DRIED so it basically only requires you to REHYRDRATE and DILLUTE it with water. But if moisture gets to it before youre ready to use it it can mildew or loose flavor from exposure to light.
