There are over 200 types of arthritis and theyvary in severity and the way they affect joints.
Also individuals respond differently to ertain drugs.
Arthritis causes inflamation and stiffness of the joints so treatment is about
1) reducing inflamation
2) reducing pain
3) maintaing joints ie maintaining the mobility of the joints
4) slowing down the progress of the disease.
My treatment consists of an immunosupressive because my arthritis is a result of my imune system attacking itself.
Along with physiotherapy, painkillers and anti inflamataries.
I also rest when I need to and don't do too much.
Treatment of arthritis is a team effort involving the patient, physiotherapist, rhumatologist, rhumatology nurse and possible others such as counsellors and orthotists. Each treatment plan will be individual and what is best for one would be inapropriate for another.

I have severe Osteoarthritis, and have tried numerous tablets and creams, one of them being Celebrex.
I have already had one knee replacement and the other one will need to be done within the next couple of years because without taking MEFENAMIC Acid 500mg tablets, I would have the same pain in my other knee as I had in the knee I had replaced.Absolute hell.
I had lots of side effects with other tablets and with the Celebrex it really upset my stomache and never really took the pain away.
I took Viox which was brilliant, however when that was taken off the market, having tried lots of others (as I said) I was in despair that I would be given something as good.
Thank god, Mafenamic Acid saved me from suffering the pain again, all you arthritics will know what I mean.
If your on Celebrex, try and get your doctor to change you over onto Mefenamic Acid it's marvellous, I have no pain at all.
One three times a day.
Good luck to you all.

Arthritis is an inflammation of the joints. Best way to treat an inflammation is with anti-inflammatory meds. First try 2 Motrins or Advils every 4 hours and see how that works. If not you will need something stronger with a prescription. Keep in minds that arthritis is not curable, it will re-occur.

Cod liver oil is very good. Some people use copper bangles next to the skin which supposedly works. There is also TENS electronic pain relief which is a small electronic device you can buy which treats areas of localised pain.

smoking a small amout of marijuana .
plenty of vitamins and eat lots of fish.
My friend got prescribed medicine which does nothing but instead got her hooked on that.
Hopefully a 100% cure will emerge soon
