Torrents are another way to share files and stuff. You get a program (http://www.bittornado.com) and then you go to websites, search what you're looking for, and download. Some good websites are www.torrentspy.com and www.torrentbox.com, but there are many out there.

They can be better than Limewire in that the download speed can be much faster, but at the same time, it can be extremely slow. It all depends on how many seeders you have (people that have the files). So basically, torrents are good for downloading popular but large files, quickly.

Torrent is a file that is downloaded by multiple people sharing and recieving files. Limewire is an example of a Torrent Software and the files you actually download are torrents. Its basically another name for files you download with P2P (Pier 2 Pier) software.

Good Luck : )

It's sort of like limewire and other p2p applications, but you are forced to share the file when you're downloading, causing the files to always be accessible to everybody (as long as there's one seeder.) You can access torrents through a number of clients, but the best is uTorrent.

Well torrent is a protocol just like P2P(peer 2 Peer network) the advantage downloading through torrents is that you can download very big files like entire movies and stuff and the chances of the torrent links to be dead are very less the best torrent client would be that you use Bitcoment here is the link

You're not dumb...I'm new to it myself. It's similar to limewire, but not quite. It tells programs like Utorrent and Azeurus where to download certain files. Utorrent is probably the easiest program for torrents (yes it's free). You can download torrents of ISOhunt.com Just search for what you want, download one of the torrents and open it in Utorrent. It is very slow though.

This probably explains it best:

It is file sharing but not as you are accustomed to it (if you are used to Morpheus or Limewire). Usually it is for larger files, not single songs. However, it can be used for anything.

It's a new form of downloading files from the internet. It allows you to download the file from the server as well as from other users who are currently downloading the same file or who has the file saved on their computer and is willing to share which increases your download speed dramatically.
